The Taiwan Football Premier League has announced that the new season shall begin on April 12.
No fixtures have currently been released, but reigning champions Tatung and last year’s runners up Taipower will begin the season as heavy favourites.
With the league not starting until early April and Taipower’s AFC Cup match vs Ulaanbaatar City postponed until April 7, there is some concern regarding the national team’s match sharpness.
Taiwan are due to take on Nepal on March 26 as they search for their first point of a disappointing World Cup/Asian Cup qualification campaign. However, the match is likely the first competitive football most of the players will have played since the 2019 season finished in December.
New manager Ca-Nhum Vom hopes to begin training at the beginning of March, while the CTFA is currently exploring potential friendly matches, as the team prepares to avenge the shock 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture in Taipei.
