East Asian Football President Mong Gyu Chung has great confidence in the Chinese Taipei National Team ahead of the second round of the EAFF Football Championship 2019.
In a press release, President Mong expressed his faith in the Chinese Taipei National Team. Mong acknowledged the potential of the team to qualify for the Finals next year, with Chinese Taipei enjoying consecutive home fixtures against Hong Kong, Mongolia and North Korea. Mong anticipates that this home support could make a crucial difference to the team.
Chinese Taipei will be desperate to build on the progress of the last year when they climbed to 121st from 161st in the world rankings under former coach Gary White, now managing rivals Hong Kong. After such a successful year and with a vocal home support Chinese Taipei have a genuine opportunity to qualify. If they do, Mong suggested that it will be due in no small part to the home fans, expecting that “Chinese Taipei will give their all as the host to impress the home fans.”
Mong went on to give his “deepest appreciation to the Chinese Taipei Football Association.” Describing Taiwan as a “beautiful island,” he praised the “abundance of experience” of the Chinese Taipei Football Association and went on to state that he expected the CTFA to “organize an excellent competition.”
Chinese Taipei begin their EAFF Championship campaign against Gary White’s Hong Kong on Sunday 11th November at the Taipei Municipal Stadium.
